Is Crystal ight OK to drink?

I noticed a few of you replied to the thread about drinking water with a tip to add Crystal Light.  I thought Crystal Light was a no-no because of the Splendia.   My sister was told absolutely no artificial sweeteners during her pregnancies so it did not even occur to me to ask my OB.  I'm curious if yours have said it is OK?   I will be sure to ask at my next appointment.

Re: Is Crystal ight OK to drink?

  • The paperwork my OB gave me says no artificial sweeteners. ?I didn't specifically ask though because I hate the flavor of them anyway.

  • I drank it just don't go crazy with it.

  • My OB ok'd it in moderation.  I'd have one glass or so a day.
  • I'm pretty sure (correct me if I'm wrong) that studies are inconclusive, so like so many other things in pregnancy, the thought process is likely to be better safe than sorry, but in moderation it is probably fine. I'm trying to avoid splenda & aspartame early in my pg but a little later I would probably have a diet soda or something else sweetened with it & not really feel bad. But then again, I just ate a sandwich with cold cuts. *Gasp*. :)
  • i had always thought that Spenda was ok but, the others werent.  I drank it through my first pregnancy and a bit during this one too.  Then, when I switched OBs the nurse practitioner told me it was on the No-No list as well.  I stopped at that point.  Not much I can do about it now.
  • My OB adn peri told me NO to crystal light. :(
  • I have to say I drank a ton of Crytal Light during my twin PG.  I drank it some this time but actually wanted cold, cold, water with lots of ice this go round.

As far as I can tell the boys suffered no ill effects from my CL consumption.  IMO - way too many things are said to be strictly off limits when there is no testing to confirm either way.

  • My OB said absolutely no artifical sweeteners.
  • I drink CL during my pregnancy and actually didnt even think about it. My OB didnt tell me no and the nurse who did all of my NST's told me it was a good way to help with my water intake if I wanted to spice things up.
