Labeling stuff for daycare

How do you label your LO's things (clothes, swaddle me's, blankets, diaper bag, car seat, bottles, pacifiers, etc) for daycare?

Re: Labeling stuff for daycare

  • I should probably add I already tried permanent marker on the paci's and it rubbed off.

I don't want to have to embroider his name on all his clothes but not all the tags have room for me to write his name on them.

On Friday I took him for a trial run of daycare. I just left him for a few hours. When I came back I had to walk around the room and gather up his stuff. His pacifier, blanket, swaddle-me where scattered all around the room and the teachers didn't know which ones were his. I can only imagine what would happen if DH picked him up one day; we'd probably end up with someone else's stuff.

  • I used a Sharpie for paci's/bottles and I have to keep re-writing it on there after a couple runs in the dishwasher. ?I'm OK with it; I just keep a Sharpie in the container with his bottle bits. ?For the clothes/blankets/bibs I got a laundry marker, you can get them at Wal-Mart or Hobby Lobby. ?For his lunch bag and diaper bag we put luggage tags on those, ?and on the car seat H carved his name in the base with an engraver. ?He's had it for years but you can get them at Home Depot or Lowe's.

That sucks that you had to go rounding up your stuff. . .my daycare is pretty good at putting things away when Ian's finished using them - blanket stays in crib, lunch and diaper bags in his cubby in the closet, and so on. ?I think I'd be irritated by that!

  • I used a sharpie on her clothes. If there wasnt room on the tag then I wrote on one of the edges like the collar or around the leg. I only put initials. I don't label the bottles because she is one of two babies in our in home daycare and they use different kinda of bottles. Its also nice because the other baby is a boy. I really dont need to label at all.
  • I bought a label maker on staples.com.  originally $40, I got it for $10.  It was on sale.  I will use that for bottles, solid food bowls, spoons, etc.  Then I ordered clothing labels from mabelslabels.com.  They iron on.

when we went to his daycare to visit recently, everything was very neat.  Blankets in the crib and clothes, etc in their cubby.  I was told to leave his paci in his crib and another in his cubby.  I am not sure how to label those (we have to use full name).  I was planning on calling this week to ask before he starts part time next week.

  • I use a sharpie on the clothes and waterproof labels on all her bottles/pacis/etc.  I got mine here (https://www.thechildrenslabels.com) and they've worked well so far
