From Eczema to Pimples?

So DS has eczema....  He had it bad then went on a steroid regime and intensive moisturinzing and his skin seemed to have healed and become more supple.  However around this time he started to develop these large puss filled pimples.  Now in addition to that where he had the eczema he is getting these little pimples... sort of looks like a poison ivy rash.  We are going to see a dermatologist, but we weren't able to get an appointment for a while, so I was hoping that someone here could give me some insight while we wait.  Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!
