Pedi says that if DS doesn't start to rollover in the next two weeks (when he has his 6 months appt) that we will be working with early intervention. But I thought I saw lots of other babies on here that weren't rolling by 6 months - am I wrong??
My bff's baby is 7 months and can not roll either way. Her pedi was not worried at all, he said some just don't want to roll. He is very very long if that has anything to do with it. I would not be worried if I were you!
I wouldn't be worried as long as everything else is right on par. I still think "early intervention" is a bit serious sounding for a parent to hear when there isn't even a problem.
i've learned that it's easier for them to learn how to roll over (and also start crawling) if they are just in a onsie and no socks for better traction. also, mine rolled better on a blanket on the floor as opposed to a bed or crib. hope it helps and happy rolling! (and i wouldn't worry about it either)
Our pedi was more interested in her head control (head lag) when she is on her tummy than rolling over. She said a number of recent studies have indicated that rolling over is a changing developmental milestone due to the back to sleep program and that often children begin the early stages of crawling and sitting up with out consistently rolling over. DD rolls over, however not every time. She gets annoyed on her tummy if she's tired. She has done both ways on blankets, but not on a regular basis. A friend has a LO who is 3 weeks younger than DD and she rolls over all the darn time. I agree with pp, they do it when their ready. I would ask your pedi to evaluate other factors (head lag) to see if they truely feel that your LO is in need of EI or if it simply a standard suggestion if they do not roll over at 6 months.
When I was 6 months old myself, I could not roll over. (And I think I turned out pretty normal!) My mom, being a first-time mother, asked my pedi about it and he said it was because I was such a big baby - I was in the 90+ percentile.?
My DS is 24 weeks and rolls randomly. ?When he is working on a new trick, he doesn't roll, just works on the new trick for a while. ?Maybe DS is just focusing on something else for now?
Add mine to the not-rolling club. She rolled tummy-back a few times 3 weeks ago and hasn't done it since. She was wearing a disposable diaper that day (at her grandma's house) and usually wears cloth, so I think it's tougher for her with the bulky diaper. Plus she's got huge chunky thighs that are a lot of work to get over each other. And, she has no interest really.
Re: Almost 6 months and not rolling?

A sister is a little bit of childhood that is never lost.
Is your DC on the large side??

She is nowhere near going back to tummy.
