WTH, who puts buttered toast in the toaster?!?!? poll

Dh just put his buttered toast in the toaster.  He sees nothing wrong with this plan.  Anyone else married to a genius?

  • Hahaha did you tell him that moisture and electric coils don't usually go well together?
  • I do that in a toaster oven because it makes the butter melt into the bread and it's wonderful. A traditional toaster is a different story, though.

  • DH thought that we were going to have our LO in a bassinet in our room for the first YEAR of her life...

  • For the record; we do not have a toaster oven.  It's a normal toaster.  And he is dang proud of himself.

HAHAHA.  year?!  Maybe some people do?  Not sure about that one.  Seems like a long time to me!  I can see your LO with it's legs hanging over the side....

  • oh yes...a regular toaster, not a good idea!

  • Haha - I tried to warm up some butter over the toaster one time....it fell down in the slots and made a huge flippin' mess. yep, I'm a genius!! (fwiw, I'm pretty sure I was pregnant at the time, so I blame it on the pregnancy brain!)
  • Before my DH and I moved in together, he once didn't want to dirty a bowl to microwave a can of Spaghettios, so he thought instead he could put the can on a frying pan and heat it on the stove. ?

    ... ?

At least he knew not to put the can in the microwave.?

  • Update:  He's super proud of himself (glowing even), and has now cooked two pieces of buttered toast in our regular toaster.  I'm going to have to hide the toaster, or buy a kitchen fire extinguisher.  He's not giving in.

lol.  Once when I was 12, I was babysitting for someone, and as the mom was leaving she put a wendy's burger, still wrapped in the foil, in the microwave and started a fire.   She was soooooo embarassed.

  • What kind of toaster?

Sometimes the toast isn't hot enough when I put the butter on and it requires being put back into the toaster long enough to melt the butter....Toaster OVEN though, not one of the stand up ones.

  • Found it!  GE has an online manual that says:

"Do not reheat or toast buttered breads.  Melted butter will cause fire."

Dh replies, "they have to say that."

Um yeah, does he want to try operating it in the tub too??!?!  They also have to say that.  He's cracking me up.

Yeah, NOT a toaster oven.  Just a plain old normal cheapo toaster.  With vertical toast.
