Anyone try Proactive(the acne system) and have PCOS? I just bought some and am wondering if it works as well with women with PCOS. I hope so! I NEVER had acne in highschool but since i've been dx, it comes and goes but mostly just comes. I think the zit on my cheek actually has a heartbeat.TIA!
Re: PCOS+Proactive=?
When I first used ProActiv, it really worked. Then I stopped using it, and I had a pizza face! (I was 14)
For me, using Cetaphil has helped my skin alot. I wash with Cetaphil(I use the kind for oily skin), apply non-oily moisturiser (Clean and Clear) and spot treat zits with Benzoyl Peroxide at night.
I think taking Met and Fish Oil also helped clear my skin. When I wasn't TTC(in college), I went to a derm and he gave me an antibiotic that worked.
GL!
proactive never worked for me, infact it made me worse. I found the clinic 3 step to be amazing, my face is smooth and clear. I've been using it for a few years now, and wish I started sooner.
OH, I also use st. ives apricot scrub a few times a week.
I, too, have PCOS and started getting acne after stopping BCP almost 3 years ago. I never had acne as a teenager and was very upset and self-conscious about having it now. I bought Proactiv about 3 months ago. I have found that it has helped a lot. I will say that when I asked RE about taking it during 2ww they recommended that I not take it (benzoyl peroxide, the main ingredient in Proactiv has been questionable in pg). So I stopped taking it for about a month during my 2ww and for the whole 2 weeks I was pg. I noticed my skin got bad again when I didn't use it. So now that I had a m/c and I'm on a forced break from TTC I am using it again and my face is clearing up.
Depending on your skin type, it can be very drying. The first few days of using Proactiv I had red, tight, dry skin. I switched to every other day after that and that seemed to help. I also just concentrate on the problem areas and that has helped.
Good luck!
