I forgot to pick DD up from daycare once.

She was 2. I was in school full time and working several jobs. Add in being a single mom and you have disaster. I had THOUGHT about asking my grandma to pick her up, but I never actually did. I was in the middle of a test in class and I all the sudden blurted out " Holy ***!" and ran out of the room.

Luckily I was only about 30 minutes late, but I felt guilty about it for a very long time, in fact I am still embarrassed about it.

But, *** happens. We are all only human, ya know?

  • It's my worst fear...but I don't doubt it happens to the best of 'em.

  • Well, my theory is much better to forget them at daycare where they are safe then to forget to drop them OFF at daycare....meaning they are still in the car.

    Word.

  • Yes, we are human. But this is on top of him never hearing me. Ever. That's why I made a very specific point more than once to make him stop what he was doing, look me straight in the eye and talk. I must have come across as a superbitch in my post since 1 person responded and it spawned another post. Oh well. I'm off to drink wine while I wait for DH and DD.

  • Vel-

You didnt come off as a super biotch, your post just reminded me of when it happened to me.

  • DH forgot DS once.  I had arranged with him to pick him up so I could meet with a friend for dinner.  For some reason, I just got the feeling to call him and make sure he'd picked him up while I was on my way to meet my friend.  He forgot and was a good half hour away and daycare was closing in 10 mins.  Fortunately I was going that way and got to him only about 5 minutes late, but the whole thing was so upsetting.
  • I remember my mother forgetting to drop me off at preschool. I was, and still am, a very chatty girl. I wasn't feeling well that morning so I was unusually quiet in the back seat. My mother drove right past my school on the way to her office. I still remember asking her where she was going.

     It happens.
