What age to take DC to a movie in a theater?

DS will be two next month and I'd like to take him to a movie soon but I'm afraid he's still too young.  What age did you take your child and how did they do?

i don't think DD would sit through a whole movie. i think we probably have another year until it's really reasonable. curious what other people's experiences have been though...

We took Liam when he was 2 and about 4 months to see Madagascar. He loved it. It was a work do and there were loads of kids there so it was ok for him to talk and shout.

My DD will be 2 in May and I don't think she's ready to sit for that long yet. I think she'll be at least 3 before we go, and I'll probably go to one of those "mother's matinee" things where it's full of kids and nobody minds if you get up 20 times.

We took DS to see Bolt a few weeks after he turned 2.  He sat great through the first half, and napped the rest of the time.  He was really excited.  We got popcorn, too.  We went to the first show of the day on a Sunday.
