TTC after 35

Questions about TTC ~ help

Hi everyone, I'm 36 years old TTC, but I have some questions.

I used a OPK, we had sex on Feb. 13 and 14 (most fertile days)

I don't feel any early pregnancy symptoms (no tender breast, no cramping)

My ovulation calendar says I have to test next tusday. What can I do?

Buy a pregnancy test, do a blood test or wait for my period?

I apreciatte any advice...I've a lot stress trying to find out what will happen.

p.s: english is not my primary lenguage. Embarrassed

Thanks a lot, baby dust for everybody!!!

  • I think it would be too early to feel any symptoms.  I think Tuesday would be a little early to test.  I think you should wait at least until Thursday before you test and even that may be a little early.  Yes, you will just need to buy a pregnancy test.  Or, you can wait and if your period doesn't show up, then test.  Good luck!

  • Hi, Altamira.

It's way too early for you to have any symptoms, other than perhaps implantation symptoms - and from what I read, many women don't have them.

You can test when your calendar suggests if you want, but you should know that the earlier you test, the more likely you are to get a negative result, even if you are pregnant.

For some women, this isn't a problem - they keep testing every couple of days or so until they get a positive result or their period shows up.

I can't do that. For me, all of the emotions associated with all of that testing and disappointment would make me too sad. Also, those tests cost money! So I am trying not to test until the day I expect my period.

This month, I tested the day before that because I had an appointment with my OB, and I wanted to be able to tell her I was pregnant, if I was. I wasn't. :(

You'll figure out what works best for you.

Are you also charting your waking temperatures and/or cervical fluid?  I am doing this because the fluid also tells you when you will soon ovulate, and then the temperatures confirm that ovulation has taken place. Temperatures remain high if you are pregnant - or in my case, they start to fall right before my period because so far, I have not gotten pregnant.

    I hope that helps.

PS: Your English is just fine.. I wish I were bilingual!

  • I would buy the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility, and get a basal thermometer. It really helps pin down when you ovulate when you are charting your temps. I also love knowing when AF is coming. Plus, if I have to see a doctor because I am not getting pregnant, I will have plenty of data to show him from these months of trying and charting.

I would wait it out. Give it the two full weeks after your O date and see what happens. Good luck.

  • Ditto the other ladies.  Also don't trust the ovulation calendars too much because your cycle varies each month.  Good luck to you.
  • TTC is a very stressful time.  I didn't have any early pg symptoms until just after my period was due.  For me I was just really bloated.  If you want to test I would buy a pg test, but if you're worried about the stress or being disappointed I would wait (I personally could never wait and always tested).

    Good luck!!
