It was a bit awkward --- but not too bad.
I had a lot more to say today than I did on Thursday --- since I had some time to think about it. And while I was completely and totally wrong for using the internet in excess (I get that and am NOT dismissing it/excusing it), I also presented the fact that I have completed all of my work on time (or ahead of time) and it has all been accurate.
In addition, she asked me how I would feel if it was a teammate of mine that was on the internet all the time and how do I think my team would feel about it if they found out? I said "Well, if they weren't up in anyone's business, it wouldn't matter. I don't care what my teammates do --- as long as it doesn't impact me. If they start slacking to the point where I have to pick up their slack, sure, I would be annoyed. However that has NEVER happened with me. I don't put any additional work on them because I'm on the internet."
Not sure she knew what to say to that -- and I did not say it in those exact words (it was a wee bit more professional than that).
I will be getting a warning --- she is waiting to hear back from HR if it will be a verbal or written. So still more waiting however either way, it doesn't matter. My recourse is the same either way --- NO MORE INTERNET!
Re: RP of my update about work situation
Oh wow, I didn't realize that you were going through this! I'm sorry Jodi, that is really tough. But it sounds like you handled yourself well- good job there.
Hopefully it will all be water under the bridge sooner than later. Sorry!
kap --- SO true! ESPECIALLY in this economy! I'm thankful that I still have my job.
Yes, I will post at night --- until JOE gives me a written warning for spending too much on the internet. He *thinks* he has that authority!
