Re: unfinished formula??

  • I never have any extra, but on a rare occasion that i do, in the trash it goes (I am slightly paranoid about this I think)

  • No way!  I wouldn't throw that stuff out... SO expensive!  I won't save it if there's only an ounce left but sometimes they just fall asleep at night without finishing and into the fridge it goes!

  • If they fall asleep or just aren't that hungry and there's more than an ounce left and the bottle's only been out 20-30  mins, we put it in the fridge. But if ti doesn't get eaten at the *next* feeding, then we'd throw it away. Hasn't seemed to bother the boys yet.

  • At our hospital, when our boys were in the NICU and then in the pediatric ward for their RSV, all the nurses on both floors operated with a 2 hour rule on formula. So we do that and have never had a problem. But after the 2 hours, out it goes. I never refridgerate and reuse after I've warmed up the formula. If they don't eat it in the 2 hours, out it goes.
  • I used to save mine, one it was expensive, but i use to do half formula and half breast milk. I felt the bm was liquid gold and it made me sick to throw it out. None of my kids ever got sick or had stomach issues from eating rewarmed milk.
