I've been thinking of the name Gillian/Jillian lately, but am divided on the spelling. Gillian is more traditional, but would people pronounce it with a hard G instead of soft? And if we wanted to nickname her Jill, would Jillian be better, or would Gillian work too?
Thoughts?
Re: Gillian vs. Jillian
Only Gillian i knew was a boy, when i read Gillian i think i should pronouced the G in it more, more of a Gill, then a Jill.
I perfer Jillian, but im bias its my sisters name
My daughter is Gillian...we have never had any issues with pronunciation or anything like that. Also, we don't shorten it. She has always been Gillian, not Gill.
So, if you are looking for a nickname, then I would say go with Jillian.
ETA: We can never find things with her name on it, which kind of bums her out, but we always see things with Jillian. I don't know if that matters to you.

I think you can't go wrong with either spelling!! I think they're both great spellings for a really nice name.
