Old Wives' Tale (OWT). And generally, they are considered OWT for a reason ... it isn't always right, lol!

Also, the OWT thing with the heartbeat is not based on the heartbeat throughout the pregnancy, but at the time of labor (I think, but could be wrong). Back then, that was all that they had.

i hear ya ~ and my pet peeve is when people write "could of" or "should of" instead of "could have or should have" ~ makes me want to scream through my keyboard.  my friends on facebook do it all the time and i want to hurt people.
