2nd Trimester

It's not an old WISE tale; it's an old WIVES' tale

because it was midwives and older women who would pass on information about sex and babies to young things on their wedding nights and during delivery.

It's not a big deal, but it's not the first time I've seen it wrong around here, so I thought I'd PSA.

Old Wives' Tale (OWT). And generally, they are considered OWT for a reason ... it isn't always right, lol!

  • Thanks for posting. And you're right. Usually nothing too wise about the tales, themselves..
  • I love your little "Peggy" thing in your post. LOL it always makes me laugh.
  • Also, the OWT thing with the heartbeat is not based on the heartbeat throughout the pregnancy, but at the time of labor (I think, but could be wrong). Back then, that was all that they had.
  • Thanks. I think a few of us tried to gently correct the OP below but this will get more attention.

On a related note, my pet peeve:  it's spelled d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y. Not definately. Not defiantly.
