I HATE the way we spelled DD's name

We both loved her name, but it's traditionally a boy's name. ?So, DH refused to name her unless we "girlified" it. ?I caved because I love the name so much and I thought I was ok with it. ?

Now I cringe almost every time I have to write it out or someone can't pronounce it. ?Ugh. ?That's my flame-worthy confession for the day. ?I'm just complaining because changing it is out of the question and DH would be really upset if I complained to him.

  • What's her name? Logan is your son, right?

  • I kinda know how you feel.  I let DH decide how to spell Gavyn's name.  I don't hate it but I did like it better with an 'i'.  I figured it was his first child/boy, he should have say in it, and to be honest, it's not totally out there and obnoxious so I let it go.

I'm sorry you don't like the way you all decided to spell her name but maybe she'll like it when she's old enough to understand.

    Mommy to three adorable boys!
  • Her name is Evan.......spelled Evynne :(

  • See--I didn't even spell it out in the ticker! ?This should give people something to rip on for awhile.

  • What is her name?
  • I think it's very pretty spelled that way for a girl
  • Ooooh.....I actually really like that!  (and I'm typically not a fan of "y"'s in place of normal vowels in names!)
  • It's not nearly as bad as what I thought you might post. It's actually kind of cute!  Don't waste any more time hating it.  It's her name.  it'll grow on you.

Yeah, that's totally cringe-worthy. It's never too late to change it. She's just a legal document away from name normalacy.
  • I know exactly how you feel. I'm not thrilled with how we spelled our second son's name - Kayson. I would have preferred Kason, but that's what happens when you are on pain killers and let your husband make the final decision.
  • I agree with you. I don't like alternate spellings like that personally.

  • I don't think it is awful, it is kinda cute.  I wanted Madelyn's name spelled Madeleine, and we couldn't agree (DH wanted Madelyn).  But after we had her and they were filling out stuff, I just said, I don't care how we spell it!  Just spell it!  lol.  Therefore her name is Madelyn. And it has grown on me.

  • I know you said that DH would not be thrilled if you suggested changing it, but would you be willing to broach the subject & see what he thinks?

I'm a huge traditional name/spelling fan, so it's the kind of thing that would make me nuts. But, it's not awful.
