can someone recommend a sling

i've never really been a sling girl and now that i will (hopefully) have a baby and a toddler i am thinking i am going to want to atleast try it out.  Can someone recommend what kind of sling would be comfortable for a newborn (and a mom).  thanks.

  • I must have missed your BFP announcement.  Congrats!  How far along are you?

As for slings, I had a Hotsling pouch sling and it worked when DS was a newborn and it was ok.  It worked for shopping trips, but I just don't think I'm a sling type of person and I stopped using it after he was a month old.

  • I've never used a sling, but my Moby was great when DS was itty bitty.

  • If you can sew a strait line or have a mom or friend who can....  This is the one I make for all my friends.  Fit is super import in a pouch sling, which I find is the other advantage of sewing it myself.  I don't know how to sew a french seam, so I just use a zig zag stitch 4 times on the smile part.  Also I make my smile more of a hockey stick, so I can use it for my almost 3 year old and the new baby.

  • thanks ladies.  i am in my 11th week.  i can sew but i am skeptical about sewing something that is supposed to hold a baby up in the air. lol.  i'll check it out.

and i am guessing the moby is a wrap?  i am not even sure what the difference of all this is.  i guess i better do more homework.

I just ordered a wrap from this shop on etsy. A couple people have said they really liked theirs from her so I'm going to try it out. I haven't got mine yet but I should later on this week sometime. I can let you know how I like it if this looks like one you'd like. I have a ring sling already but I just think with a toddler and a newborn I'll like something that's a little more secure feeling. I think I'll like the loveyduds wrap a lot better!

  • Congrats Katherine!!!  I will pray for a sticky baby for you!

As for slings, I have never found one that is comfortable at all for me until I tried this one https://www.etsy.com/search_results.php?search_type=tag_title&search_query=lovey+duds.
