Box haircolor when PG?

First, let me start by saying that the first time I was preg I did my usual $150-$200 haircut/color so I know that it's ok to color when PG.

 That said, we are in a different financial situation this time around.  I'm ok with my color right now, just have some roots that I need to lighten up a bit.  I did a demi-permanent color a few months ago (after I splugered again on a cut/color, hated it, hated how the tried to "fix" it, so I fixed it myself).  It eventually fades/washes out but it was perfect.  This is what I'd like to do again.

I'm nervous about doing this myself when PG b/c I knwo that they tell you to try to keep it off of your scalp whichi is virtually impossible when doing color at home.  I'm hoping b/c it's not perm color it is safer (less chemicals etc).

Has anyone done this or know if it is, in fact, safe while pg?

I'm pretty sure it's okay after the first trimester.

I am pretty sure it is ok. I did the Natural Instincts color when I was pg with DS.
