My 21 m/o son is great at brushing his teeth with our assistance twice a day. We have done this since he got his first tooth. He is up to about 9 teeth. He has been on 2 antibiotics in the past 2 weeks. His teeth (from gum to about half his tooth) are all brown. How is this possible? Is it time to see a pedi dentist? Time to start using real people toothpaste. I am really concerned b/c since he started his meds for an ear infection, his teeth are NASTY!
Tia!
Re: Can DC teeth turn brown while taking antibiotic?
Some antibiotics definitely can discolour teeth. It is usually only with repeated use though so it might not be that. Yes I would see a dentist.
I have slightly discoloured teeth still from the many many antibiotics that I had to have as a baby. I was literally on back to back antibiotics for about 2 years so that is not surprising. I'd be surprised if 2x did anything to his teeth. But I guess it is possible.
