We had planned to move Luca to forward facing very soon. Yesterday at the pedi, he gave us a ton of research about safety and really thinks we should wait until 2 or until he can no longer comfortably fit rear facing.. He is happy the way he is... Anyone wait? He thinks that we will see the recommendations change in the very near future...

Re: Anyone wait to turn the car seat?
We turned as soon as we could. However, Avery is pretty big. If Deux is smaller (doubt it), we'll leave him rear facing as long as we can.

Absolutely! DD is top of the charts for height and I have no intention of turning her until she maxes out the seat.
Pretty much every group recommends extended rear-facing. It's only the law that's out of date.
ditto
I waited as long as we could - 20 months of age or longer (hard to remember).
I believe in waiting as long as he's comfortable.
Ditto. ?Charlotte is not even 18 lbs yet at almost a year (we make some peanuts!), so we'll wait until we absolutely HAVE to turn her. ?I see no reason to turn her FF; she's perfectly happy RF.?
If I had my way he would still be rear facing but I just could NOT convince my husband of the benefits. and YES I sent him the link and I showed him evidence but for some reason he really wanted him forward facing.
I think he was about 16 months when I gave in.
this was us. i really wanted to keep him RFing longer but his legs got very long and he threw fits about having to sit cross legged. he also wanted to see. i was so nervous about him front facing that we even bought a new car seat for my car 9and put his other in DHs car) that had more safety features. like PP, we will keep #2 FRing as long as possible. its just safer.
i wanted to, but we live far from everything and i couldn't take the screaming the whole drive anymore. we turned her at 15mo when she hit 20lbs.
micah will stay as long as possible.
We turned her at 18 months or so--It was August, and her heat rash was not healing. Once we turned her, the a/c could hit her directly, and it finally went away.
If it wasn't for that, she would still be rear-facing.
