can be fun, but needs lots of parental supervision.  I've gone with Elena twice.

 What I do do with Elena often though is buy some cute wood shapes at hobby lobby or wherever.  Usually only spend $5.  And get the little box of acrylic paints (not watercolor).  She LOVES painting her flowers or hearts or butterflies or whatever.  And we can paint them over and over and over again.  I think one star must have 10 coats.

I've taken DS pottery painting since he was about 2.  He really enjoys it.

We went recently and while it was fun, it didn't keep K's attention for a super long time. We had fun....but for the price, it isn't something I'll do super regularly right now.

Addie lasted for about an hour of the process. She did a couple mugs, 3 ornaments (it was christmas) and a couple handprints. She also spent quite awhile painting the paper table cloth.
