is this normal? re: tylenol and fever

My son has a fever of 101.9 rectally, an hour after tylenol its 101.2.  Is it normal not to get rid of the fever and only drop it a few points?

Motrin is actually better for fevers.  If tylenol isnt work in 2 hours give him a dose of Motrin....in 2 hours give him another dose of Tylenol...alternate tylenol every 4 hours and motrin every 6 hours.

If it gets up in the 103 range give both tylenol and motrin....4 hours later give tylenol...4 hours later give both tylenol and motrin...so on and so forth until you get the fever under control.
