Never good news when nanny calls 20 minutes before she's supposed to come over

She's going to be 2 hours late. ?Sigh.

  • Yikes...did she say why? Maybe I'm just a b!tch, but unless there was an emergency, I'd have a pretty big issue with being 2 HOURS late with only 20 minutes notice...

  • she's a student and has some class issue to deal with.

    ?

I write on the days she comes, so I have an extremely flexible schedule, but still. ?I was sort of counting on that time.?

Well, I can kind of understand this. ?I'm not in school right now, but last semester & the previous semesters I've had.. I always feel like professors think you have nothing else to do but school work. :(

    ?

Sorry she's going to be 2 hours late, but it's great you've got a flexi schedule! ?

  • Boo.  :(  Is everything okay with her?

  • mine does this, too. ?only, she actually cancels on 20 min notice. ?fortunately, she's a luxury for me, not a neccesity.?

I was once a student (many moons ago) and I had a job at the same time. I really cant think of an issue that would take up 2 hours of my already accounted for time that couldnt wait. And you have a flexible schedule, but that doesnt ?mean that she can just show up after a time you've already determined. If this is the first time something like this has happened, I'd be willing to let it go, but if the "flexible schedule" has made her unreliable then it might be time to look for someone else. Even if you dont NEED her there at a certain time, the fact that she said she'd be there and now wont be is, IMO, taking advantage of you. ?

The thing is, she has been with us since DS1 was 6 months old-- she was a student of mine when I was pregnant with him. ?So I trust her completely, and she loves my kids. ?It's just a PITA to lose 2 hours of writing time. ?But I guess I'll just work late and miss bedtime (which was also been a PITA lately)
