I posted yesterday about DS's skin right below the head of his penis being really red on one side. Well this morning I thought it looked a little better (after putting neosporin on it all day yesterday and dabbing it with a warm washcloth when I change him to clean it), but this afternoon when I changed him it was actually bleeding the tiniest bit. He was circumcised 3 days after he was born, so I don't know what this could be. I am definitely calling the pedi in the morning, but in the meantime, does anyone have any idea what could be going on? I feel so horrible for him even though he doesn't act like it is bothering him at all.

Re: XP: F/U to post yesterday re: DS
huh, no idea really..maybe it never totally healed? but you would think the pedi would have noticed that on exam. could it have gotten scratched somehow...i know my guys are older, but they reach down there a lot now while i am changing them, and if their nails aren't totally filed down they scratch themselves all over, i just found a nice healthy scratch on ronnie's inner thigh tonight..gonna file his nails tomorrow..
definitely call the pedi and keep us updated..hope it gets better!?

Poor little guy... at least it doesn't seem to be bothering him.
My little guy Jack has had a few little things like that off and on over the years... it's really sensitive skin and can get irritated easily. Could be a bacterial thing, could be a yeast thing, could have gotten scratched somehow, or could just be plain ol' irritated. Probably a good idea to call the pedi this time - so they can help you figure out exactly what it is and what to do - so then you'll know for the future.
For the time being I would keep up the neosporin so it doesn't get infected but I would not do the washcloth thing - even though they're soft you don't want to irritate it any more. I'd maybe get the washcloth wet and squeeze it out over the area to "rinse" it, but don't touch it with the cloth or with baby wipes.
Hope it clears up soon!

If it is diaper rash, what do you do for it in that spot? Desitin or something? I wish I could just let him go naked and see if it helps, but I would have pee and poop everywhere!
We actually just started letting water dribble over it instead of wiping it with a washcloth tonight
I also started using bacitracin instead of the neosporin because the neosporin I have is the one with pain relief and I heard that one can cause severe itching in the genital area. DH doesn't think it looks that bad, that it is just an irritation, but I am still going to call the nurse in the morning.
