I was prescribed Colace (docusate sodium) in the hospital by my doctor who knew I was BFing. I took it for several weeks post partum thanks to my lovely tear.

Yes, it's safe. I called my OB's office to ask post-partum.

Is it Dulcolax as in bisacodyl or docusate? The bisacodyl is a laxative, which I'm not sure about. The docusate (stool softener) is ok though.

Yes, they are fine. I ate stool softner like candy for almost three months PP thanks to my 4th degree tear.
