XP: Mom of boys - question for you

DS was circumcised 3 days after he was born and everything has been fine, but this morning I noticed that the area where you pull the foreskin down from the head, is pretty red (I actually thought for a minute that it was blood, but it's not - it's just that red).  It's not red all the way around, just on one side.  I always try to make sure to clean that part when changing his diaper, but maybe I missed something.  I feel so bad and I'm not sure exactly what I should try and do for it.  Any suggestions?  I thought about maybe some A&D ointment or would Desitin help it?  TIA!

I would try A&D ointment -- sometimes DS's gets a bit red in spots and A&D ointment fixes it fast, sometimes by the next diaper change.

put A&D on it for a couple days- if it doesn't go away- talk to the doc. DS had this happen and it turned out to be a yeast type diaper rash on his penis almost- gave us some Rx cream and it was gone right away.

Is it red like infected-red or red like blood flow red?  Is it just in one spot or all over?  I know that sometimes I freaked because DS's penis would look purple and I thought something was wrong.  The pedi laughed at me.  Apparently I don't know my penis colors very well; it was only due to the stimulation or lack of at that time...  Oh well...

Good luck.  The whole circ situation always made me nervous; I never knew if anything was wrong or not.  Anyways, put the cream on and don't hesitate to call the pedi if you are concerned.
