My DH and I have just started to discuss using cloth diapers. Does anyone have any advice on which brands are good, how many we should start with etc. really any info. you can give would be helpful. Thanks!
And also, go lurk on the Eco Friendly Family board. We did the trial through Jillian's Drawers and decided to do mostly the one size pocket diapers. I like them because DS can wear them at night too without having to get him his own stash. We wash them at home. I have mostly Bum Genius 3.0s, a couple FuzziBunz, a couple prefolds (your old school diaper) w Snappi, a Thirsties Fab Fit and a Thirsties cover. I just ordered a couple Haute Pockets too. So far, I'm totally sold.

Ditto all of this. The Eco Friendly Family board is a great resource. I use mostly pockets and All in ones, but also some fitteds with covers.
FYI, those gerber cloth diapers everyone uses for for burp cloths would never cut it as a real cloth diaper. Real prefolds from a cloth diaper store are much better (and much better for burp cloths)
I would definitely recommend some kind of package deal so you can try out a few different kinds before you invest. . . different kinds of diapers work for different kids and different situations.
ditto pp... there was also a site that did a newborn trial packet.. which would be handy early on.. but really, flats work for the newborn really well.
mutts are awesome fitteds for a newborn.
Really, I could go on and on about brands... but you need basics. ; ) it can get confusing when shopping. check out the eco friendly board and diaperswappers and diaper pin for advice.
Re: cloth diapers anyone?
No help here, I just had to come in with a pointless smart ass comment.
I use cloth diapers as burp cloths. They're even made pretty because my grandmother crocheted edges on them for me. lol
We just switched. I did disposables with DS and DD is 4 months now.
