do you need favors for a first birthday party?

I wasn't sure yet about favors for DD first birthday.  Is this standard?  just for kids or everyone?  what are you doing?

you could just give something to the kids especially if most of the adults are family

i think we're gonna do a photo booth.  but not a real one. dh is a photographer, so we'll just set up a goofy background and some curtains and let guests take their pic with the birthday girl.  but we only have adults coming, immediate family on both sides.

I suppose you don't *need* them, but I plan to do personalized M&M's - you can get them with both a saying and a picture, so I'll do something like "Stella is 1!" and her face on the other side on pink candies.  You can buy them in bulk or already in bags with ribbon from the M&M's website.
