 we do not know what we are having ... so I feel like when I am looking up "shabby chic" I am getting very girly looking cribs, etc ...and I need neutral.

I got super lucky and found a old iron 4 poster crib at an antique store.  It was not in the best condition.  I scrubbed the thing clean, painted it, and replace some hardwear.  Turned at just like a clip from Martha Stewart.  Also heard you can find them at 2nd hand stores.

I found a really cute faux antique crib at an antique shop today.  I didn't check the price, but it was an off-white crib that was distressed.  It was brand new, though, which was funny in an antique store!  I'm one that's really picky about the crib - my dad offered to make me one and I turned him down because of all the regulations and such.

However, I am making my crib antique-looking.  I called Home Depot to check about paint, and I am buying a "green" off-white paint that has less toxins to paint with and then I'm using a caramel glaze to go over it with to make it less girly.  Yes, I'm having a girl, but I don't want to go overboard, either.
