Ok, seriously, is this normal?

I've always had an issue with waiting "too long" to eat, and then getting shaky/lightheaded etc.

But lately it's been happening every day during the week. I'm thinking I must not be eating substantially in the morning or something, because by 11:30/12 I am shaky/spacey and just not feeling good.

For instance, this morning I woke at 5:30, had coffee. At about 8 I had a baggie of frosted mini wheats, dry. By 11:30, shaky/spacey.  Some days I have yogurt - sometimes it helps, sometimes not.

Is this normal, or something I should look into?

  • I get the same way. I eat breakfast by 10am and if I don't have lunch by two, I'm shaky, weak and angry.

This is me. I just shoved a calzone in my face and am waiting for it to "kick in".

There's nothing to do for this other than be mindful and eat more often, right?

  • At risk of pointing out the obvious - you were awake for 6 hours already and had only eaten a baggie of cereal. Guessing you didn't eat after dinner the night before, you hadn't eaten in 14 hours. I think your body is trying to tell you that you need to eat a more filling breakfast.
  • I am going to have to go with Dai on this one.

If all I had eaten was a baggie of cereal by 11am, I would probably pass the heck out, not just get lightheaded.

I agree. 150 calories in the first 1/3 of your waking hours is not enough for your body to go on.

  • It's probably hypoglycemia. I'd try to eat something with protein: eggs, peanut butter, nuts, etc. Protein sticks with you longer than carbs. GL

ditto. ?It just sounds like you didn't eat enough. ?Carbs don't stick with you like protein, so if I don't want to eat a huge breakfast but I want to not get hungry, I'll drink a protein shake and eat a piece of fruit or something.?

    double ditto.

I have an english muffin with egg and cheese or PB for B-fast.  And I have to eat within an hour of waking up or I will either get really faint or really nauseous or both.
