3cm / 70% effaced - how long?

I know it can still be a while but how long until active labor when you had already started to dilate and efface. I am having light contractions but nothing that is timeable or painful but I have them on and off all the time.

I don't know what's typical, but at my last drs appt (38w2d) I was 2 cm and 80% effaced and she stripped my membranes (which was more painful than actual labor, I thought) and I had the baby 15 hours later - the next morning! My contractions didn't start to really be painful until the end...so you could be close, but I'm no expert!!!! ?GL! ?Can't wait to see you over here soon!!!

I was 2cm and 90% effaced at my appt 2 days before I went into labor.  Her hunch was that I wouldn't make it to my appt the next week, and I definitely didn't!

It can be a while yet, but if you're already having light contractions (even if they're not timable yet) I'd make sure everything is ready--you can go into active labor at a moment's notice.

With DD, I was induced because I was stuck at 1cm for a month (and she was late). But once they got me on the pitocin things moved quickly after I got to about 5cm.

My good friend was 4 cm and 70% effaced for 3 weeks, but then I was only a fingertip dilated and DD was floating when I went into labor with her. It really is hard to know, but I hope it means soon   That is really exciting!

i was 2cm and 50% effaced for a few weeks.

You are not going to like my answer, I'm sure, but I was 3-4 cm and 80% effaced for three weeks.

At 38w3d, I was 2 cm and 50% effaced.  At 39w3d I was 3cm and 90% effaced and my water broke 3 days later.  My doctor stripped my membranes at my 39w3d appointment, not sure if that helped things along or not.

I was 3cm and 50% effaced at 35wks 2days.  DS was born at 37wks 5days.
