Anyone have thyroid issues after baby?

Anyone else on here with thryroid issues? I just learned yesterday that I have a  hyperactive thyroid. I really think this came on after/during pregnancy as I never had issues before. Does anyone else have thyroid issues? Can you recommend an endocrinologist? I have only talked to my GP about this at this point and want a second opinion.

Re: Anyone have thyroid issues after baby?

  • What part of town are you in?  You might want to try Dr. Sheri Fox in The Woodlands or Dr. Tom Thomas in the med center.

I had hypothyroid before pregnancy, during pregnancy, and after pregnancy.  Prior to pregnancy, however, my levels were only slightly off, but now I'm still taking the dosage of medicine that I took during pregnancy (double what I took before.)

Thyroid problems can onset at any point, and it should be very closely monitored.  You should really find an endocrinologist that you like.  (By the way, I do NOT suggest Dr. Bueso off Almeda.)  Good luck!

  • I am laughing about the Dr. Bueso comment. I don't know him but I have heard of him.

Dr. Brian Tulloch and Dr. Ryan Neal are both in the Medical Center. If you don't mind going a little south Dr. Amir Hassan is at BW8 and 45 South and is a great endo.

  • I had issues pre-baby, but having her seems to have 'cured' them.  I am now off Synthroid.

I recommend Dr Tom Thomas with Kelsey Seybold

  • I was diagnosed with a hypoactive thyroid when I was pregnant with Kohen.  After giving birth, it is still there.  When I had more bloodwork done with Kamryn, my prescription went up a bit.  After having Kamryn, it hasn't changed.  I will probably have to take Levoxyl for the rest of my life :(

PAGAS - I was under the impression that it doesn't go away?  When was the last time you had your TSH tested since having F?  Will they want to check it again in a few months one your body fully "regulates" (lack of a better way to put it :)?

My "symptoms" went away after I had Kohen so I took myself of my Levoxyl (because I have a medical degree and like to self-diagnose).  When I got pregnant with Kamryn, my doctor was ticked to see that I had stopped since it could have caused a MC.

I have beenblood tested twice and they will do it again in 6 months (I think it is 6 months).  I am off Synthroid for now.

Okay.  So there is a dim light at the end of the tunnel for me :)

I just hate my hair falling out and the dry skin.  I am fine taking a small pill everyday but everything else that comes with it sucks.
