Toddler sippy cup question

When should a toddler be off the large nipple sippy and on the straw sippy?

DS started using them around 18 months old.

Jakob's been using straw sippies since about a year old. He didn't take to regular sippies, until we found a style in Germany that he hadn't tried here, and that worked well until we tried straw sippies. Oh, and he would never take anything by mama milk in a bottle, not even water.

We've always used the straw sippies too. Nipples, other than the real things, were never a hit in our house
