when can baby have maple syrup?

Ive always given DS waffles and pancakes dry without anything on them and he's been perfectly happy with that. But, I was just wondering when I can introduce maple syrup to him? TIA!

Re: when can baby have maple syrup?

  • I've been using maple syrup to sweeten things like plain yogurt for dd since she first started solids. I think you're fine now, I would just use real maple syrup and not some imitation stuff.?

  • I think he can definitely have it by now. ?But personally, I usually do a little cream cheese on her waffles and her pancakes have fruit in them already so no need for more sweeteners. ??

At the ridiculous hour we're eating breakfast in my house I've got little tolerance for syrup in the hair, up her arm. ?We do messy foods later in the day after mommy is actually awake and can cope. ??

  • I've started putting a little bit of jelly on his pancakes and he loves it. I just get a kind with no added sugars.
  • I've been using it all along......

  • I started a few weeks ago adding a small amount to his pancakes. I use the lite syrup at home for myself so I've been just using that for him, but a lot less than what I'd use for myself (I like my pancakes DRENCHED!) Big Smile
  • There's no restrictions, but I only use the real stuff. I use it as sweetener, also (cook it in applesauce, mix it with yogurt, things like that...). hth
