Peanuts!

Let me preface this by stating how grateful I am that my 3 girls waited until the day of/after their 15 month check-up to get the stomach bug we've all been sharing of late, otherwise they would have weighed even less at their appointment.

Hannah is 19 pounds, 7 ounces.  Maya and Fiona- 17 pounds, 8 ounces each.  How is that even possible?  I feel like I put a stick of butter in each thing I put in their mouths, and still they are stringbeans.  They don't look malnourished, by any stretch, but there's just not much extra flesh anywhere.

So sad to say that Hannah is my "big" girl in the 6th percentile for her weight (35th for height).  Maya and Fiona aren't even on the charts- the are somewhere around the negative-percentile range, which is just plain nutty.

Oh, and the best part of our checkup was the doctor's little diatribe about how we should only feed them (snacks like Cheerios included) at a table, otherwise we'll have to deal with childhood obesity.  Somehow this does not add up to me!

Re: Peanuts!

  • Oh, yes, God forbid you give them a Cheerio when they are not at a table! They will turn into the 3 little pigs:) hehe. Doctors are so ridiculous sometimes. Sorry to hear you caught the bug too- we are just getting over it- bleahhhhh.

I say your girls looks happy and healthy to me.. someday they will appreciate their peanut status:)

  • my BIL and SIL have an adorable, healthy-looking little 3 yr old who has the normal little kid "buddha" belly but is in NO way obese, and their doctor told them if they don't start him on a diet they'll end up dealing with obesity issues too! it boggled my mind, the kid is active and looks plain old healthy to me.

next thing you know, they'll be making slim fast for babies :P

  • aww, pretty little peanuts!

doctors can be so dense sometimes. sigh.
