Britax Marathon or Roundabout?

I was in a car accident last week, and need to replace my car seat.  I was thinking of getting a Britax, but don't know which one.  I odn't know if I need to worry so much about Hailey getting over 40 lbs (and 40 inches), so that limitation isn't an issue.  I have a hyundai Elantra if that makes a difference.  Thanks!

  • marathon is much roomier in the seat.  I have the Blvd and LOVE it...its basically the marathon but with head wings for side protection. and I love how you adjust the height of the straps by turning a dial...no more threading those pesky straps.

  • It was an easy choice for me.  The marathon does not fit rear facing in my car.  DD was not 20 pounds until 2 years old, so she was rear facing for a long time.  Like my roundabout though.  I am getting the Sunshine kids seat for DD from Walmart when new baby needs a convertable.  She will be able to use it until she is 8.

  • The Marathon is the safer choice.  My DD outgrew the Roundabout by height very early (before she was 2.5).

However, I LOVED the Roundabout for the time we used it.  We bought it on clearance at Target for $100 and used every penny of it.  It was a great seat to bring on the airplane because it was just the right size and didn't take up the whole backseat of the car.

    Hikerbeth,

Do you have a link to info that says that the marathon is a safer choice?  I have been looking for info like that and have not been able to find anything other than the "ease of use" from the NHTSA, which is really just about instructions and not about actual seat safety.

  • Sorry, I didn't mean carseat safety, I meant safer in terms of "you'll be able to use it longer and get more of your money's worth"

    Bad choice of words.
