So, I have spoiled my child to the point where she won't stop fussing unless she is swaddled. This is fine when we are at the house, but it makes leaving to run errands nearly impossible unless I want to hear her screaming the whole time.
I remember seeing something about swaddling in the car seat, but now I can't find it. Do any of you use a product that is specifically desinged to swaddle in the car seat? And if so, can you tell me about your experience and recommend?
TIA
Re: swaddle in the car seat?
You shouldnt swaddle in the carseat.
You can't swaddle because her arms need to go through the straps. With DS I've been putting his arms at his sides and tucking a blanket around him (over and sides, not actually under him)
If you push it tight around her arms, she might feel swaddled.
Do we know why? Or is it just another one of those old wive's tales that we all go along with before we find out facts?
You shouldn't use anything in the carseat that hasn't been tested with the seat. That includes those bundle me things, extra strap cushions, extra head rest etc. Basically if it doesn't come with the carseat don't use it.
It goes along with the same reasoning that your child shouldn't wear a heavy coat in the carseat. You want the straps to fit snugly against your kid so in case of an accident your child doesn't come out of the buckles.
