pls. recommend your dbl. stroller

Hi.  I am having tons of trouble figuring out which double stroller to buy.  I am due in April. My DS will be 2.  I am looking for durable stroller that can be used as a jogger and regular stroller.  I've read good things about the Bumbleride Indie, Peg Perego 60/40, and city mini.  Without having the new baby, I'm not sure what I should be looking for in a dbl.... will you help?  thanks! C

  • First, there is NO SUCH THING as the perfect double... I learned that from the 23034834 posts on here.

I got the Phil & Ted's e3 Twin side by side for $200 last year, and decided to make it work. Took it out for the first time yesterday and it got a lot of attention at the mall.

Pros: Awesome steering, sturdy as heck, folds completely flat for newborn or sleeping toddler, huge tires make curbs easy, looks really cool.

Cons: Folding is awkward (I may be doing it wrong), no cupholders, smallish cargo area, small sunshade.

  • We have the City Mini. I really like it. We used it a lot last summer. The reason I picked it is because of the higher weight limit (my girls are big) and it's pretty lightweight for a double. It is really comfortable for both kids. The baby rode in it a lot on her own this summer (she was 5-8 months or so) and it was sturdy even without older DD in it, too. It has full reclining seats and absolutely the best sun shades ever. Rides smooth, very easy to steer, fits most everywhere. The only real cons are the wheels are plastic, which is ridiculous considering the cost. We only use it for neighborhood walks/mall/things like that, so they have been OK, but it definitely couldn't be used as a jogger. It even specifies this. You have to purchase belly bars/cupholders/things like that separately, which is also ridiculous considering the cost. I do like it, though. I wish we had gotten it sooner--it was on backorder for like 2 months so we got it a little late. DD is now 3 and prefers to walk most places, but we'll see what happens this summer.
