DD sleeps on her back. We do lots of tummy time and she isn't on her back much during the day, but I get so paranoid about her getting a flat head. Is there any way to prevent this while she's sleeping?
Let her sleep on her side. If it makes you paranoid to do this at night, do it during naps when you can keep an eye on her. My baby turns on his side by himself and pedi says its fine.
DS sleeps on his back as well and we don;t have a problem with it. I just amke sure that during the day he is not on his head all day. Holding him, tummy time and sitting up in my lap.

when she sleeps does she keep her head facing the ceiling? Once she's asleep just turn her head, to the left one night, then the right the next night. Obviously she'll turn it back to what's comfortable but she might leave it in that position for awhile. That's about all you can do.
She does prefer one side of her head. I'll try and switch it after she's asleep. Does your DC wake up when you move their head? That's what I'm worried about. She's been such a light sleeper lately. Thanks ladies!
This worries me too! DS sleeps on his back, but usually he won't face the ceiling - he turns his head from side to side. He totally prefers one side over the other, so when I put him down to sleep I've been alternating sides that I lay him down (in the crib) as well as I turn his head. When he naps in his swing, I do the same - since he prefers one side over the other, I lean him towards alternating sides. DS does tons of tummy time & I hold him upright alot and he'll sit upright on my lap as well...... but he loves to be on his back. He loves his play mat & bouncy seat - since he can reach & grab the hanging toys. You might want to try this - I just got the Homedics white noise projector machine and it's been working great..... we aim it on a different wall - each night, so that he leans on different sides each time. Once we're all asleep though, which ever way he turns, he turns.

Re: Prevention of flat head
Once she is asleep, try turning her head to the side. One of my DDs has a very flat side of her head and we do this.
