Update on son's weight loss

I just wanted to update everyone who responded about our son's weight loss. The O said he has not been ill. They are guessing that the last weight we received (which said he'd gained 5lbs) was in error and he's really only lost a total of 2 lbs over the last 6 months. This is still huge considering that at age 8, he is the size of an average American 3 year old.

Anyway, the O has the means of obtaining pediasure. So DH and I will be paying for both kids to receive a bottle (maybe 2)) of pediasure a day. We are not hugely optimistic that this will help much. Really what needs to happen is we need to get them home, get rid of the parasites, and get them on a healthy regime. The pediasure is just a stop-gap measure that will hopefully help at least a little.

    Candm, I just wish that you can get both of your kids home where you can monitor them closely. No mother likes the feeling of being helpless when their kids are sick.

    Oh my goodness, how scary!  I'm sure you just want to jump on the next plane and get down there, huh?!  I hope they will be able to come home soon!  Do you have any idea of when it will be?

    I wish I knew. We always come up with an estimate and then it gets pushed back. Once we exit MOI, it should only be ~2 months more. We expect word we've exited MOI any day now (but we've been expecting that for 1-2 months).

    BTW, welcome back. I've been wondering where you disappeared to.
