Rec your humidifier please!!!

DD has her first cold and the time has come to purchase a humidifier to help with her congestion, but I have no clue where to start.  Cool mist or normal? Anyone have a humidifier they love?  What's the deal with gunk growing in the water?

I have a Crane frog cool mist humidifier. Algae does build up in it but if you leave water sitting in it then all humidifiers are going to grow it. You just have to make sure that your wash them out.

We already had a Vicks warm mist vaporizer pre-baby. ?The pedi told me the main issue w/ warm mist vaporizers/humidifiers is burn risk but it's not really an issue if they're in their crib and can't get to the unit. ?Different story when they become more mobile, however. ?He also said both types need the water changed daily to avoid mold growth.

I had one picked out on our registry...but it was discontinued for some reason. DH ended up getting us this one for Christmas. I absolutely love it! It's super quiet, and it has warm and cool settings. No parts to have to replace either. The link I have is at Costco, which is where we got it...but ours didn't come with the other thing like the one on the site. I'm not sure how much it cost either.
