Kind of bummed about U/S

I'm thrilled that the baby looked healthy (still awaiting doctor review) and that we could possibly be having another girl despite my feelings that this baby was DEFINITELY a boy, but I really hate not having a definite boy/girl decision.

I wanted to know with Mia and all we could see were feet. Now again I'm going to have to wait another 20 weeks to find out since my office doesn't do routine scans "just for the fun of it" and paying for one would probably be a waste since the same thing could happen as yesterday. I know it's a petty complaint, but I'm just disappointed. Confused I was really looking forward to doing a little pre-shopping this time and being able to think about it in it's true form.

  • Can you go to one of those 3D u/s places?  That way your get really cool pics and a DVD and you will more than likely find out for sure.  If not, you still get all the cool pics and stuff.

I would be disappointed too.  I am sorry you were unable to find out.

  • I would be bummed too. Do you know anyone who performs u/s for a living that might be able to get you scanned.

Also, contact your local hospital to see if any students can use some practice. My sister is an u/s tech and they have students from the local colleges come in and they will being in pregnant friends and stuff so they can get practice.

  • Hey, at least now you're sure she (or a possible he) was kicking you with two legs and you can go shopping for a carseat, right? :-)

    *inside joke* :)

EDIT: I saw your post late last night and I saw you emailed me some pics late last night too, she/he? looks so cute with those long legs :)

You can always get some yellow/green stuff :)  We did not find out with Ethan and that's all I was buying :)

  • I am sorry girl. I would be bummed too. I am such a planner and would want to redo the nursery and have some new clothes if it was a boy.
  • Lana- yes! I was thrilled to see 2 legs/2 arms in full action. I think we might have a kickboxing champion in our family. LOL At least I can get a carseat now even if I can't start buying clothes.

Speaking of which, I mailed the coupon yesterday. It expires on the 16th so hopefully A will give you a break this weekend and you can get out and go shopping for yours!

  • I'm not really a fan of ultrasounds for the fun of it, but a LOT of places do a "gender?guarantee" so they won't stop until they get the good shot :-) ?Maybe you can call around and see what they say? ?

I don't blame you, I would be sad if we didn't get a def answer at my ultrasounds (and my poor kids were probably cracked out from all the oj and coffee I had to get them moving!!)?

  • I'll have to look around for local places and check out all your suggestions. Thanks guys for entertaining my petty complaints!

Tx- I'm just like that (a planner). Not so much for buying stuff, but if I am sure something is going to be one way and it changes last minute it takes me FOREVER to adjust mentally. Even with which restaurant we go to for dinner! LOL

  • thanks a bunch!!!!!!!

  • A friend of mine went to one of those 3D places.  She was in a situation where the ultrasound tech at her 20 week told her she thought it was a boy but wasn't sure.  The amt she paid at the 3D place was actually not bad and she's glad she did it because she found out for sure!!  BTW -- 3D ultrasound showed a girl!!

You are not being petty at all. I would be disappointed for sure.

  • It's okay to be disappointed! I am sorry you didn't get to find out. But I am so happy that the baby's healthy and (might be) a girl. :)

  • I'm sorry!  Don't feel bad!  I am the type of person who has no patience when it comes to these things, and I know that when I have my u/s, if we can't tell, I will be really disappointed, too.

Heck, two of my friends are pg right now, too, and it is killing me that they aren't finding out!  I am secretly hoping that it is so obvious they will find out by accident.  It's awful of me, I know. Smile

  • The same thing happened to us at my 20 weeks U/S so DH and I are paying to go to a private clinic in a couple of weeks.  Most of these places will guarantee sex determination.  At the place we are going to, it costs $175 for the visit(3D/4D U/S), but if they can't determine the sex  at that appointment they will bring us back for another appointment at no charge 2-3 weeks later.  maybe one of the clinics near you offer the same guarantee so you should check it out.  I think for the $175 we also get a DVD and pictures too.
  • aww T, I"d be a little bummed to now knowing 100%. I have a feeling come June, we may still have a surprise!

Regardless, I'm so phsyched for another baby Mia!
