more Moby questions

How do you keep it from getting tangled when putting it on?  It's hard for me to get the seam-side out over my shoulders without getting it all twisted up.  I also then feel like he is not super secure, even though I put it on the right way. I mean he IS secure, but i don't know if it's just the way it's supposed to feel-- or i am doing something wrong.

finally, how can i get him to like being in it more? i have a VERY nosey baby that loves to look around. So when i have him in there, he is popping his head up constantly, and then sometimes almost pushing on me to lean back, and kicking his feet to straighten himself.  I can't tell if he is uncomfortable or wtf is going on.    He sometimes will chill out, but usually like i said in a post earlier, if he is awake it's 15 minutes max before he gets frustrated and wants out. I REALLY want to be able to use this more,so any tips you have will be appreciated. =)

Re: more Moby questions

  • Hey Mod!

I had a lady show me a wrap where his legs were not up but free and his head more supported.  I haven't bought one yet so I can't tell you how but maybe google it.  Sorry this prob didn't help.

  • Which hold do you have him in? I put P in the kangaroo hold and don't have to worry about it getting tangled, being too lose or him not being able to look around.
  • Try making that first part across your stomach super tight.  That should help him feel more secure.  (That is, if what you are feeling is like he's slipping.)

this seems like a pretty helpful website...not sure if you've seen it or not!

Sorry...I don't have exact answers, but a mom I work with just mentioned this site to me today.

  • Hi - check out the UTube videos on how to wrap the Moby - there are a lot of different techniques, and the videos are great. ?I love my Moby, but it took me a while before I got my technique down, so hang in there. ?Now, I'm a Moby wrapping fool!

?As for helping your LO like it better - some things that worked for me: wrapping it more loosely, so DD could wiggle a bit; freeing her feet, having her ride facing out; and if all else failed, wrapping her but letting her shoulders come out so she could twist around to look at things (but you MUST support them with your arms - it is not safe to use it this way without also supporting the baby!).?

  • Ditto the videos, they are much more informative than the pictures in the booklet.

Whenever my wrap doesn't feel secure it's because I have it too loose. Jude also likes to look around. I usually have him in the newborn hold, and when he is awake he insists on popping his head out of the wrap. I just keep my hand supporting his head and let him do what he wants.

  • DD wasn't too interested at first, but the more I put her in it the longer she stays in. Now she smiles when she sees me getting it ready. I would just keep at it. And ditto making the belly part really tight for more security.
  • We would have given away our Moby if it weren't for the videos on YouTube.  Really helpful in getting it on correctly, smoothly and to try different holds!
  • Movement is key!  If you need to sit to do something, I've found sitting on an exercise ball and bouncing lightly is just enough to put kiddo to sleep.  Usually, I'll walk around until he's calm if he starts out fussy.
