Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Mirena

If you have or have had Mirena, did you think it hurt to have it put in, or was it just uncomfortable? A nurse was telling me today that they give a motrin shot but if I've had a baby I probably wouldn't think much of it. Just wondered what other experiences are like because women who haven't had babies seem to agree that it hurts, and she said having dilated before makes a difference.

Re: Mirena

  • I got it at my 6 week PP check up and only felt a couple tiny twinges.  My cervix was still open so that makes a difference.  I felt crampy the rest of the day but that was it!

  • It wasn't too bad but It hink my OB used some kind of numbing agent before inserting it cause I was 6 weeks pp and I had a 2nd degree tear.  It just like a pap or a uncomfortable internal.  I'm really glad I got it though!

  • I would say that it would have hurt if i wouldnt have already gone through the pain of having a baby. It's uncomfortable but not anymore uncomfortable than a cervix check.

I would take some motrin before hand but it's more afterwards that you are in a bit of pain and achy than the actual insertion.

  • Mine hurt like a b!tch, but she said it probably would since I had a c/s and not a vaginal delivery. I'm also a baby when it comes to pain lol.
