I have no idea how a grandparent that lives in the same town as the grandchild could go that long without seeing his adorable face.? I think the problem is my ILs don't know how to be grandparents.? My husband's sister has a daughter that they practically raise and therefore can control.? They know that DS has loving, stable parents and they cannot control what happens with him.? I think that bugs them.? Even so, I think it is just sad that they do not care to see hiim (or at least that is what it seems like).
Re: My ILS live in the same town as us and have not seen DS in 3 weeks
If I was blessed enough to go three weeks without seeing my IL's I would be on my knees thanking God for giving me a break. I am jealous of you.
That being said... I feel your pain on the control thing and it is sad that they can't just relax and enjoy getting to know their grandchild without having to be the major decision maker.
Two angel babies 11/09 and 4/10
My FIL hasn't seen DD since she was 3 days old, she just turned 4 months. He lives 5 mins. away. His loss.
I am in the same boat. I'm glad I don't have to see them often, but still, when the only time they see gd is when we initiate it, it is really sad. Then dh makes me be quiet about how often my mom sees her. It is his mothers choice, imo!
I do think in my situation it is possibly a control thing as well. Either that or they like the toddler phase better...remains to be seen!
