We're flying for the first time next week. If you FF, formula is allowed on the plane, you just have to take it out for the TSA agents to inspect. Also, check your stroller and carseat at the gate so that you don't have to carry your DS all through the airport. Lastly, I've heard it's a good idea to feed the baby during takeoff and landing to help with ear pain. HTH and have a great flight!
We just flew with DD last week - it went great (thankfully!!).
Definitely feed your DS during takeoff & landing as the pp said. I also brought a boppy for DD to sit in & for feeding while on the plane and it worked great so I highly recommend it. It is a bit of a pain to carry around but we both agreed it was well worth it so that you are not constantly having to hold your DC. Good luck!

We flew over thanksgiving when DS was 3 months old. We gave him a paci on the way up and I kept playing with it so he would continue to suck. We fed him on the way down. We couldn't feed him on the way up because it was a short flight and I needed him to be hungry on the way down (since that is worse on their ears). Worked like a charm - no ear pain and he had a head cold. We checked our Snap n' Go and carseat at the gate which do not count against your checked luggage. I took 5 bottles of BM which I had to open for inspection - they hold a paper over the top without touching the bottle. We took a carryon suitcase with my pump, extra diapers, extra clothes for us and baby and our diaper bag. We brought a blanket (the hospital one) to put over our laps while we held him in case he spit up or pooped.
Change DC right before getting on the plane to hopefully avoid a mid air changing. Biggest piece of advice is get there plenty early. That way you can take your time with everything and not get stressed out.
I agree with all of the pp. The only thing I would suggest is to bring more than your normal amount of diapers and formula with you. You never know when you have flight delays. I had a 3 hour flight but was delayed for 2 hours, thank god I brought plenty. Also if your lo takes a pacifier make sure you have a clip, you don't want it to fall underneath the seat.
