DS has red spots/bumps?? Any guesses? Help!

DS has tiny red bumps (4 on his face, one inside his bottom lip, 1 on his leg and 2 on his hands.) A few have come and gone. The first showed on Sat. and is gone now.

He has had no fever. He feels fine. He had a runny nose ending late last week that lasted about a week (his first cold.) I am a SAHM and he is not around many kids normally, although at a large family party  on 1/25 he was with 2 young cousins, one of whom literally sneezed right on him. This child had the chicken pox vaccine months ago. Other than that, he has been home lately, due to his cold and the really cold weather here.

I haven't heard of anyone else that was at that party being sick.  I am thinking he somehow caught the chicken pox!  Maybe an older relative had recently had the shingles vaccine? Could his cousin have passed hte pox to him even though he never got it himself?

DS turns  1 tomorrow so he has not had this vaccine yet.  I think I may have to cancel his b'day party next weekend!Sad

I do not think it is roseola as he has not had any fever and these are tiny bumps, looking like little zits.

Any ideas? TIA

I left a message w/ his Dr but she usually doesn't call back until 1-ish.

  • Hand foot and mouth..is characterized by red bumps on their hands..lips, inside their mouth..and feet (lower legs).
  • He hasn't had a fever and is not acting like he is in any pain. Do you think it could still be Hand foot and mouth?

  • The fever can be mild..and is usually before the rash develops.  So..yeah I think it could still be hand food and mouth.  I know with my kids..I usually thought they felt a little warm..brushed it off..than a few days later they start breaking out in a few tiny red bumps.
