NBR: Ruby was attacked tonight...

So we go to let the dogs back in and find that a raccoon attacked my oldest dog. The way we found out is he led us right to the tree it was hiding in. Her face has multiple gashes all of which I cleaned up. I am just worried about her. That raccoon really did a number on her because her face is all tore up as is her chest & even inside her ears!! This is the 2nd time she has been hurt in our own back yard. The other time she was bit by a spider & had an allergic reaction which was awful.  We will have to be more careful when we let them out. She must have been protecting Gracie because Gracie doesn't have a mark on her. Sorry just wanted to vent

Aw, the poor puppy. Are you going to call the vet? Hopefully she recovers quickly.

Oh Rachel, that's awful!  I hope Ruby bounces back quickly.  If I were you, I'd definitely give the vet a call.......raccoons can be dangerous and it wouldn't hurt to get her checked out.   Poor baby.

Thanks ladies! I cleaned her up last night & put some antibiotic ointment on her scratches. I am taking her into the vet later on today so we'll see what they say.
