I am thinking about making fondue for DH for Valentine's day. Does anyone have any recipes?

  • My husband and I love Fondue ever since going to the Melting Pot. But I am not down with spending over 100 bux for something I can make at home.

I got this recipe from Allrecipes, My husband loves it.

    Beef Fondue ingredients list:

3 lb sirloin, cut in ?-inch cubes.
    ? lb of butter.
    ? cups of olive oil.
    3 tablespoons of Dijon mustard.
    10 tablespoons of butter.
    5 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce.

    Instructions for Beef Fondue:

In a saucepan, heat up the ? lb of butter and the olive oil.

When hot, pour into a large fondue pan, so the oil is about 1 ? inches deep.

When oil start to bubble, spear beef cube with fondue fork and lower into hot oil and fry for about 3 minutes.

To make sauce, combine the mustard, 10 tablespoons of butter butter and Worcestershire sauce in a saucepan. Stir until butter melts; then serve hot.

  • Thanks!

  • I make this chocolate one for dessert but put crushed nuts on a plate and after I dip the fruit or marshmallow and cake in the chocolate I roll it in the nut and sometimes coconut for an extra pizazz

    5 ounces of chocolate, chopped.
1 cup of cocoa powder, sifted.
1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar.
    1 1/4 cups of water.
3/4 of cup heavy cream, plus.
    1/4 of cup corn syrup.
    1 tablespoon of heavy cream.

Your choice of cake, cut into bite-sized pieces.
Your choice of fruit, also cut into bite-sized pieces.

    Instructions for Chocolate Fondue:

Sift the cocoa into a mixing bowl and then set aside.

Put the water, sugar and corn syrup in a pot and bring to boil.

Simmer for about 15 minutes, until the sugar solution has reduced by about 30%.

Pour the cocoa powder into the solution and blend with a whisk until smooth.

Return the chocolate mixture to the stove and continue cooking over a medium heat.

Add the heavy cream; bring to boil and allow to simmer for about 5 minutes.

Remove from the heat and stir in the chopped chocolate.

Pour into a fondue pot and keep warm

  • Do you have a foundue pot? If not, we have the electronic cuisinart, and it is great. It is easy to regulate the temp. and it is non-stick so it cleans up very easily.

  • Foodnetwork.com has a great "Cheesy Beer Fondue" recipe.  It's AWESOME and easy.  Delicious with bread, granny smith apples, carrots, etc...

Yummy!  You always seem to be making the best things.  I think you should start a cooking blog.  Big Smile

  • Thanks Fox, my mom is a retired chef.  My brother is a chef.  I was raised to make things from scratch because its healthier.

Also, I hate to spend too much money on something that I could make at home for a third of the cost.  Like fondue, its fun for an occasion to go out and buy it but I would much rather do it all at home with friends where we can pig out and have great drinks and be as loud as we want at home.

    I like to save money.

That is so awesome...I'm jealous of your skills!  I would love to start cooking more but sadly, I'm not that good at it.  Maybe it will be my new years resolution (a little late) to start trying a little more.  And anytime you start that blog, let me know!  I'll be your first stalker!  Smile
