Constipation

We discovered on Wednesday DD was constipated.  She usually has two dirty diapers a day but lately I have to give her a suppository to help her out.  I know they saw they can go several days without pooping but she'll scream and when I give her the suppository and she poops she's happy.  I will call the dr. tomorrow but I guess I don't know how long you can continue to use the suppositories for.  Anyone know?  I know pear juice is supposed to help too but I'm afraid this will affect her reflux due to it being acidicy.

What about prune juice? At that age, I could stick the thermoneter in and the poop would come out, lol

I just got off the phone with my pediatrician 5 minutes ago with the same problem. He has me doing half an enema and 2 oz of prune juice 2x a day.

Forgot to look at you DC age...but my son is 5 months so he is also switching him from rice to barley or oatmeal cereal. ?

I dealt with my DD being constipated as well. I used the Fleet enema also.... What I would suggest, is also what our pedi suggested, is to use 1 tsp of Miralax daily. I put it in DD first bottle of the day and she has since pooped every day! It does not have a taste or grittiness to it, so the pedi said. Please try that. I wouldn't want to have to give LO an enema all the time. The Miralax does not say it's for baby but I would not give it to DD if the pedi did not suggest it. A friend of ours also had to give it to thier DD and then another friend was dealing with her DD being constipated and I told her about it and she gave it to her and she pooped and still does. Something to try! HTH

Is your DD on medicine for the reflux?  My son is on Prevacid and we have been dealing with terrible gas and constipation. I feel awful for him when he can't get it out.  When he finally does I can tell he feels much better.
