Just curious as to how long you took to recover (i.e., resume most of your normal activities) after your section.
I delivered our beautiful baby boy after 30+ hours of labor by a section last weekend and while I feel a little better each day - I am still very limited. I am so looking forward to feeling better.....when was this for you?
TIA
Re: C-Section Question

I was in labor for 26 hours before they decided to do a c-section, I was also suffering from pre-eclampsia so I was in the hospital for 2 days after delivering. I took 1/2 vicodin at home and mainly tried taking ibuprofen. I was not very active for the first week home but by the second week I was out and about without a problem. Hang in there it gets better!

I too labored for 32hrs and pushed for 6hrs before trying forceps and eventually requiring a c-section. It was probably the most traumatic thing I've ever been through. At the time I felt like all the girls on this board had these perfect easy vaginal births and I felt like I'd been robbed of the birth experience I wanted.
I HATE that you had to go through this too, but please know that I understand what you went through. My OB said I had the right to be exhausted AND pissed because it was like I'd had a vaginal birth AND a c-section. My abs and around my ribs were so sore for days from the prolonged pushing I'd done. And I was swollen like you can't believe (tight tight swelling from my toes all the way to my hips) because my pulse stayed very high after delivery (about 120-140 for the 3 days after delivery) so they bolused me with IV fluids for days. When I finally got home, I didn't even feel human. I couldn't get out of bed by myself and all I wanted to do was sleep and cry. At 5 days postpartum when I had to go to DS's pediatrician appt wearing 9 months pregnant maternity clothes and mens slippers (because even my slippers wouldn't fit my swollen feed), and I saw all the other mothers in there playing with their new babies and laughing, I just lost it. I cried and cried. My mom told me "they did NOT go through what you went through. you have earned the right to be sore and tired. but you have no idea how much better you're going to feel in just 2 weeks. Hang in there for 2 more weeks!" And she was right!
At 2wks post-partum, my swelling was 90% gone, I could get in and out of bed by myself, get in and out of the car by myself, felt semi-competent taking care of the baby. My milk had finally come in (it took until day 7 for it to come in). I was still very sore but I had weaned myself off the Percocet.
By 3wks post-partum I finally started feeling like myself again and wasn't crying every day. I started driving again. And the soreness was much much better with only a little soreness at the incision site. I was still taking Ibuprofen but only a couple times a day.
Now at 6wks post-partum, I am getting on the floor to play with DS. I took him for a walk today in his stroller, and my incision no longer hurts at all.
I wish you a speedy recovery. Go hug and kiss on your little boy and know that you'll feel better very soon.
