Paranoid mommy?

My dh thought it would help our dd sleep better if she had a pillow because it would prop her up a little.  she has had a cold and an ear infection for a week now.  I'm afraid that she will roll over and suffocate.  Is it appropriate for her to use a pillow at 16 months?  Thanks.

  • I personally wouldnt let my 16 month use a pillow. If you want to help prop her up, you can fold up some towels and put them under her mattress. It will put her at an angle and might relieve some of her stuffiness while she sleeps.?
  • My 18 month old uses one (and has for awhile now)...I have never worried about it.

  • What you could do instead is put the pillow under her mattress to prop that side of her crib up. We do this for our 20 month old when she has a cold. I don't think she'll suffocate, but she might not use it because it's unfamiliar.

  • I'm pretty sure I let A use one at that age. I agree with Purrrf on putting the pillow or a wedge under the mattress to prop her up so you don't have to worry about it. Hope she feels better.
